On April 19, the first meeting of the panel of experts that are part of the Andes del Sur Natural Laboratory took place.
24 people from the public, private, academic and civil society sectors attended this first meeting in which, among other topics, the project was presented. Andes Natural Laboratory of Southern Chile (LN), its concepts and scope, the territory and attributes of a Natural Laboratory, the objectives, the structure (thematic laboratories), the stages and the expected results.
Some of the most relevant proposals that were gathered at the end of the session were, for example, to bring the scientific discourse in simple language to the communities and that public services and/or academia listen to the communities that are part of the natural laboratory. Also mentioned was the promotion of scientific and regenerative tourism to educate about the protection of the territory.
On the other hand, it was highlighted as a transcendental point of the project to link with representative organizations where the project operates, in addition to incorporating representatives of the Mapuche population to enrich the panel of experts. The researchers were urged to get to know the territory and what it means to the people who live there.
