During September, Dr. Carla Marchant participated in the International Conference Mountain, held in Innsbruck, Austria. There, in front of mountain scholars from all over the world, he presented the project being carried out by the Universidad Austral de Chile.

Great interest in the mountain research community was raised by the Southern Andes Natural Laboratory project, the International Mountain Conference held in Innsbruck, the heart of the Tyrol, in Austria.

Carla Marchant, Director of the project, explained the basis, focus and goals of this transdisciplinary and large-scale Natural Laboratory, which covers the mountain territories of the regions of La Araucanía, Los Ríos and Los Lagos.

“It is very motivating to be able to take this project beyond Chile’s borders. The collaboration between Chilean and international researchers and inhabitants of mountain territories is undoubtedly a great tool to strengthen ties and share knowledge that will help us understand the mountain in the most conscious and respectful way possible”.
